If the story was told from Don Anselmo's perspective instead, it would give us many more details about how he actually feel about the trees which belong to the children. Firstly, it would tell us from the beginning about why he didn't sell the trees and set the price so low. Secondly, it would give us more information about his feelings towards those trees. I can tell that he is respectful for the fact that those trees are the children's, but from his perspective, it would tell more about why he didn't agree to sell the other half of the land in the first place. Lastly, it would also tell us more about his life, family. More about how he has so many descendants and how he grew those trees for each of them.

Literary Focus: 7. Make Judgements

I think Terry did it for both the right and the wrong reasons. Terry's father had the Vietnam syndrom, but it really wasn't caused from Vietnam. Terry knew that but he didn't know what caused the disease. He was his son, so I think Terry had the right to know about what happened. I know that the father was pained to talk about his past and what had happened during the war, but if Terry doesn't know what happened, he might even leave his father for being embarassed all the time because he didn't understand. So, his father should've told terry sooner so that Terry wouldn't misunderstand what happened to his father and how being in his father's shoes were really hard. It was also wrong because Terry's father didn't want to talk about what happened during the Vietnam war. Since many people died and he was the only one alive, his father might feel guilty and scared because he felt like he was a dead person on the inside. Terry made a mistake by asking his father about it, but also it was a good time because Terry had the right to know but he didn't know how it felt like to be in his father's position.

The Haunted

"Whoosh...whoosh," came the sound of the wind blowing mindlessly through the leafless trees in the yards of Kenn High. It was the year of 2009, and the chattering of Kenn High's student body made the wind inaudible as a couple, Daniel and Sarah and the two best friends, Jamie and Julia pushed through the double doors among with other students. As the four people went on bickering about where they should spend their Christmas vacation, Jamie hollered out, "I've got an awesome idea. Da Lat, Vietnam would the be perfect place for this kind of season."
"But I red that it's very dirty at that place. Ew..." Sarah said with a face, as usual. Sarah was the girly- type, who was also the head of her cheerleading squad. Her boyfriend, Daniel, was the head of his football team. Jamie was the captain of his basketball team while Julia was the one with all the brains. Everyone decided to go with Jamie's idea. After a long while, Daniel found himself leaning over Sarah's car window to kiss her passionately, while Jamie and Julia walked in silence.
"Well, I think this trip will be fun, don't you," Julia said with a huge grin as she eased down the tension between the two of them. Jamie used one of his angelic smiles that makes girls' hearts melt and blushed at his best friend, "Yeah, it'd be a great chance for us to visit our home country, right?"
"Right..." Julia said softly. She has been madly in love with Jamie ever since 5th grade, but she had never peaked out a single word to anyone. BAM! A thunderclap shook the earth as raindrops began to fall from the black sky, trying to drown the earth. Julia looked over and saw Jamie walking towards a girl in the cheerleading squad. Julia started to cry as she looked up the sky. She was surprised when Jamie honked and said, "Hey, are you getting on or just going to stand there and get soaked?" Julia smiled, grabbed her bag, hopped onto Jamie's car and thought about what this vacation might have in store for the four of them.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we're experiencing some turbulence right now. So please return to your seat and fasten your seatbelts. Thank you," the airplane attendant announced on American Airlines after a couple of bumped on the sky. Everyone was frowning as Sarah continued to complain.
"Sarah, we've only been on this plane for 3 hours. We still have another 18 more hours to go. So drink some water because your throat might go dry," Julia ran out of patience and said.
"WHAT? Twenty-one more hours on this plane? They might as well as drop me here. I can find my own way back home..." Sarah whined softly. Jamie groaned at the torture that all three of them were going to get from Sarah, but he found later on that Sarah was easy to put as sleep. Therefore, after an hour, Sarah slept like a pig on Daniel's broad shoulders. They finally arrived, checked into a hotel and slept wistfully.
The next day, they woke up, squeezed into a red convertible and drove onto the streets with Julia behind the wheels. They took the route to the scariest haunted house in town, but they could not find the place. As they drove around, the tires on their rented car blew out and there was also a little bit amount of gas left. "Man, some piece of junk you rented, "Jamie complained.
"Hey, the roads here are just too gnarly, that's all," Daniel said amiably.
"Well, I guess we're stuck here. Anybody got any ideas what to do? Jamie said with a shrug.
"How about going to that lovely house over there for shelter?" Sarah suggested. The house was indeed lovely, but they were very cautious of it. So Daniel and Jamie walked in first, while Julia and Sarah followed. They were all surprised to smell some weird odor, like the house has been left there for too long. With all the dust everywhere, this place was defnitely ominous. SLAM! The front door slowly locked the four of them in. The two boys suddenly dashed to the windows to open them, but they were also locked.
"Wait, didn't we see this house as "lovely"," Jamie asked with a shaky voice as he looked out at the window, as usual. The house looked very old from the inside, like it could be blown away anytime. Suddenly, the lights went out. Even the sky just fell dark right away. Then, Daniel's ears pricked up as Sarah's screams tore the night. He felt her hands torn away from his and dragged into the darkness. As the lights went on like an electric generator, Daniel started to look for Sarah. He saw the blood that was spilled and dragged on the floor and fell apart, with tears trickled down his cheeks. He stood up and chased for sarah by the blood path while Jamie and Julia tried to follow, but he was too fast. When they turned to a corner, they saw the nastiest scene that they could never forget. Daniel and Sarah's bodies were violently killed and left there without any traces of who the "killer" might be. Just then, Julia felt something at the back of her neck and fell down. Jamie bent over for Julia, but he was also attacked and felt the world around him fell.
Jamie woke up finding himself on an ambulance. He quickly sat up, demanded a doctor to see Julia, and wanted to know what happened in that ominous house.
"You know, you and your friend were pretty lucky back there, kid," the doctor said. "That is the scariest haunted house in the entire world. We tried to get rid of it, but it never workd. Last night, and employee from the hotel that you were staying noticed your car parked outside of that haunted house. He was smart enough to call us and we got here in time, or else you two could've been killed like your friends. I'm sorry for your loss. Julia's over there in the other ambulance.
"Thanks, I appreciate your help," Jamie said hurriedly as he ran towards Julia's ambulance. He climbed in and saw her still unconcious. He couldn't help but cry, but he tried to calm down. He wished and called for Julia to wake up, but she didn't. Tears unexpectedly rolled down his cheeks and onto Julia's face. Her eyelids started to open like Jamie's tear drops disturbed her, raised her hand to touch Jamie's face. He slowly turned towards her, said only three words and bent to give her a good-morning kiss. Those three words were simple; those were the words that you describe your love to that someone...
